Look out for Louisville’s fall production “Godspell” this November! The performing arts department is starting off the 2023-2024 school year with a bang, as this musical has a unique structure and premise. The show puts a fun, modern twist on Jesus and the Apostles, following mainly the gospel of Matthew through a series of parables.

This musical is also special for Louisville because it is our first fall musical! As some of you may have noticed, instead of our fall drama and Showstoppers lineup, there is one singular musical this fall semester.

Just like every other production, the cast is putting in the work nearly every day in order to produce the best version of the musical that Louisville has to offer. For two months, the cast will spend endless hours practicing various choreography and vocals. As always, Mr. Dan, drama teacher and director of “Godspell,” is adding his own twist and making this show just as unique as previous productions.

This semester, the seniors say goodbye to their very last fall production here at Louisville. Emily Kruska ’24, Leanna Flexo ’24, Emilia Brown ’24, Hailey Koffman ’24, Eva Lloyd ’24, Boo Kilroy ’24, AG Arnold ’24 and Sienna Shores ’24 will be taking the stage for one more fall production. Each of these seniors have been a part of numerous other Louisville productions over their four years here, even participating while online due to COVID-19 during their freshman year.

Given that this musical is already unconventional, along with Mr. Dan’s own alterations, the cast is having a great time going through the show together and figuring it out along the way.

It’s “a process of figuring out the play together, it’s very collaborative. It’s fun because we really get to feel stuff out and put our own spin on a lot of it”said, Emilia Brown ’24.

Some of the students are even contributing throughout the creative process.

Emily Kruska, in particular, is currently helping with the choreography, creating an entire dance number.

Let’s also not forget about the stage manager, Lola Lambe ’24. This is Lambe’s second time acting as stage manager for a Louisville production, and she is present at every rehearsal, just like the stars of the show. Helping Lambe is Ella Sutherland ’25, who plans to fill the role of stage manager during her senior year.

Make sure to stop by and watch Louisville’s first fall musical on November 17-19 to support your fellow sisters in the miraculous “Godspell”!
