Whether it’s with a friend, a significant other or even by yourself, the winter season is a perfect time to go on some falala-lovely dates. If you want to get into the holiday spirit, here are some suggestions for festive activities to make the season all the more exciting:

The first date idea is a classic for the holidays: ice skating. Even though ice skating doesn’t come naturally to everyone (it’s me, I’m everyone), gliding across the ice with the occasional face plant makes the holiday season feel just as magical as it did when you were a little kid. Obviously, Los Angeles is not known for its icy weather with frozen lakes to skate on, however, there are a few venues around the city that open rinks for the winter season, like the LA Kings Holiday Ice and the Ice at Santa Monica.

The second holi-date idea is a super simple, yet heartwarming activity: baking. Whether you’re baking warm gingerbread cookies from scratch, or even just throwing some Pillsbury Christmas Cookies in the oven, baking is the perfect way to embrace the holiday spirit, as we all know food is the key to everyone’s heart.

Another easy date idea is one that really only involves a quick Target run: matching PJ’s. Picking out a festive pair of holiday pajamas to match with your significant other, friend, family or dog is a super cute way to bond with those you love and cozy up for the chilly nights of winter.

After you pull your Christmas cookies out of the oven and throw on your holiday PJ’s, you can enjoy them while partaking in the next date idea: watching holiday movies. There is no better way to capture that magical holiday feeling than throwing on a classic Christmas movie, like “Elf” or “Love Actually.” If you’re ever feeling like you can’t find that holiday spirit, movies like these will remind you why December is such a beloved month.

The fifth date idea is another timeless holiday classic: making gingerbread houses. Making gingerbread houses is not as easy as it looks, but it always creates a jolly atmosphere. Not only can you build a gingerbread house on your own or with another person, but it can also be something you do with a big group of people as a competition for the best house.

Finally, the last date idea for this winter season is one you might not have seen before: candle painting. This activity is cheap and easy and it involves taking a trip to a thrift store and picking out candles with colorful wax, and also buying plain white candles with no holder. First, you melt the colorful candles until the wax begins to pool, and then you use the melted wax to paint the plain white candles. If you want to make this date feel extra Christmasy, you can paint things like holly, mistletoe, Christmas trees, lights and anything else that puts you in the holiday mood.
