Question: What is one Louisville event or tradition that was your favorite when you were a student here?

Answer: “There are three events and traditions that I remember fondly:

The first was participating in the annual theater productions. Musicals and plays were done in alternating years. During my four years at Louisville, the school produced Little Women, The Sound of Music, Pride and Prejudice and Annie Get Your Gun, in that order, when I was in 9th-12th grades. I was involved in all but Little Women my freshman year.

The second tradition that I took part in as a singer and dancer, was the annual Christmas Concert. And the last was the little sister, big sister festivities at the start of the year. When I was in 9th grade, the theme was "bugs!" My 11th grade big sister, Julie Datomi ’75, dressed me up as a stink bug and "perfumed" me with a bit of vinegar! When I was an 11th grader in 1976, the theme was (not surprisingly,) the American Bicentennial.

The incoming class was larger than ours, so some of us, like me, had two little sisters. I dressed my little sister, Patty Ma ’75, up like a bald eagle and my second little sister, Marie Talbot, was an American Flag. Not terribly original, but I think that we all had fun! I'm still in contact with Marie to this day, via Facebook.”

Question: Talking to some girls on campus about their favorite traditions or events, many said Winter Formal and Pep rallies. Are those events and traditions that happened during your time?

Answer: “We did have the winter formal but we called it our Homecoming Dance. And unlike now, we wore long dresses just like we did for prom. Pep rallies were a ton of fun. Our volleyball and basketball teams were awesome when I was at Louisville and we were all very proud of them, and loved to take the opportunity during the pep rallies to cheer them on.”

Question: What is something you remember most about your time at Louisville?

Answer: “What I remember so well and what has created the good memories that I have from my time at Louisville is the common thread running through the events and traditions that I've mentioned above; the girls I interacted with, and the sense of community that I felt at Louisville for the four years that I was at school.”

Question: Is there something you have heard that happens at Louisville now that surprises you?

Answer: “Not surprised but, I can say that I'm very impressed with how the school has continued to grow educationally, technologically and with the facilities that you have at your disposal! I would have loved to have danced in the studio that you have. We had dance class and rehearsals on the stage in St. Louis Hall. It worked out fine because we didn't know what we were missing!”
