The Royals at their first official game of the season

The start of the winter season brings along the shift to winter sports. Let’s start this sports season off with basketball!

The Royals played on Nov. 15 in a pre-season game versus Shalhevet and took a victory. In the first quarter, the Royals were 15-9, during the second quarter the score was 3-2. In the third, they were still up 11-7. In the final quarter, scoring 14-15, the final score ended with 43-33, a Royal victory.

Stevie Carmona ’23 scored 12 points and Miye Kodama ’24 scored 12 points. Congratulations to Miye Kodama ’24 for being selected player of the game! Additionally, as the only senior, team captain Katherine Csiszar ’22 has been a huge inspiration to others, always showing up ready and getting the team started.

With the season games approaching, the girls have begun practicing more and more. Many students look forward to the upcoming season and there are several new students who joined the basketball program. Both coaches have been planning out this season strategically as the first official season starts.

“I am excited to play for the first time at Louisville and bond with my teammates, and I hope to learn and get better at basketball skills and hopefully it will take me far.” said Katriel Nwene ’24.

Furthermore, on Nov. 29, The Royals faced off the Marymount Sailors and won with an ending score of 75. The girls started the game stronger than ever and finished with a positive attitude. Coming up, they have a tournament from Dec. 9 to 11th at Nordoff.
