Darcy Mullane '24

Editor-in-Chief of Design

Hello Louisville community! My name is Darcy Mullane and I am the Editor-in-Chief of Design and I have had the honor to produce this final project with Emma Aviv ’24 and Zia Eger-Slobig ’25. We worked together on everything on this issue from the writing to the design.

Journalism has taught me many leadership skills of how to get a group to work together and meet deadlines. I am so immensely proud of this year’s staff for writing quality articles and working hard to meet deadlines.

I walked into this school year nervous that the staff would not work well together, but I have been so impressed and happy with everyone’s enthusiasm to make this paper great. I’m also so happy that there were five returning staff members this year because it showed how great this class is and helped the staff become some of my greatest friends.

On that note, I would like to thank the extraordinary staff for all their hard work and dedication. They put so much work into the production of the newspaper. Although many of them do not love the design process, they put their all into it and try their best to have a great looking newspaper. They also have the most creative article ideas and that is something I applaud them for. The many laughs and incredible content that ranged from sophisticated reporting to silly satire has created a successful year. Journalism has remained my favorite class, even when  meeting deadlines felt crazy sometimes.

I’d also like to thank my partner in all of this, Carys Cheshire: the Editor-in-Chief of Content, who I have had the pleasure of working with and learned so much from.

Of course we could not do this without the continuous support from all the faculty, staff and students, so thank you for reading and allowing us to feature you  in our newspaper, because The Royal is truly something special because of all of you!
