Things to revisit from your childhood

Class of 2024 is leaving Louisville and going out into the world. As college approaches and the fear of growing up increases, sometimes you just need to feel like a little kid again. Here are a couple things to do to help revisit the memories of childhood:

Gen Z grew up in the time of iPads and the internet, and although some may see that as a curse, it was actually a blessing because we were able to make iMovie trailers. I remember my favorite types of trailers to make were the horror movie trailers. I loved the dramatic music you could add and the cringey acting. I recommend hanging out with some friends to make props and record a video. You could even use ketchup as fake blood for dramatic effect.

The next activity is going to the trampoline park. I have very fond memories of just watching the Sky Zone commercials and thinking “it must smell like feet in there,” but I also have very happy memories of jumping off the walls and into the foam pits. They now have glow in the dark events from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. to make for a more mature jumping experience.

The next things to revisit are the graduation episodes of childhood TV shows. Coming home from school and seeing shows like “Wizards of Waverly Place” and “Good Luck Charlie” on air was one of the best feelings. The graduation episode was generally the last episode because graduation feels like the end to childhood.

I remember watching the last episode of “Suite Life on Deck” and crying myself to sleep after. It was sad to watch back then because my favorite show was ending, but now it feels different because we are now the graduates.

The final thing to revisit is going on a shopping spree and having a fashion show for family or friends. Some of my favorite memories with my dad are coming home from school and modeling all the sparkly outfits I got from Justice for him. This activity can be done with family, or simply just your friends because I don’t know about you, but my friends are the best hype women.

You can do these things at any point in your life, but it may feel a little more special to do these while you’re having a crisis about your childhood ending. Remember as you go into your next chapter of life that everything will be okay and that the next thing will be incredible as long as you’re open to it!
