Friends and family of Louisville's water polo team filled the stands of Crespi’s new pool in support of Louisville’s senior night. The game started out strong, with a goal scored by senior Angele Paral in the first 40 seconds! The Royals dominated, closing out senior night with a 17-3 win, and a night that the seniors will never forget.

Senior Talia Marchewka came out strong this game, scoring one goal! Marchewka has been committed to water polo since she was a freshman, and her dedication has earned her the title of captain. Marchewka reflects that she is so lucky to “have found such a great family to motivate me to become the person [she] is today.”

Senior Cassidy Serino, a member of the water polo team since her sophomore year, made two shots and one assist! When asked about her time on the water polo team, she expressed how she “loved playing with this incredible group of girls”, and that the sport has taught her so much!

Senior Angele Parral started playing her junior year, but has been breaking records in the water on Louisville’s swim team since her freshman year. Parral played strongly, scoring the first goal of the game, and ended with a total of four goals and three steals! Chloe Luderer, a freshman on the varsity water polo team, says that Parral “always encouraged us in practice and games, especially when we were in bad moods.” Can’t wait to see Paral bring that energy to the swim season in the spring!

Senior captain Holland Joblonski celebrated her senior night after three years of playing with the varsity team. Jablonski had a total of three goals, and two assists in this game. Her spirit on the team does not go unnoticed, from trying to plan team dances to teaching sophomore Julia Glukhovsky cool new tricks, Jablonski’s spirit on the team is appreciated by all of her teammates.

And last, but certainly not least, senior Genesis Rumph not only helped out in the goal by blocking three goals and stealing two balls, she also had three shots on offense! Rumph has been playing for four years, and has been goalie since she was a freshman. Teammate Grace Arce ‘25 describes Rumph as “genuine, honest, and confident.”

Some other highlights from the game include goals from Lauryn Bulman ’23, Chloe Luderer ’25, Julia Glukhousky ’24, Lauren Cruz ’23, Grace McIntyre ’25, Sara Greene ’23, and Grace Arce ’25! Goalie Vivian Wasmund ’23 also had three blocks to secure the Royals’ victory.

The game was followed by a celebration in honor of the seniors that had a taco truck enjoyed by the friends, family, and players! The varsity water polo team gave speeches, gifts and hugs to their senior teammates who have helped shape their experiences on the team. Senior night ended with cupcakes and photos with friends to remember this special day.

Congratulations on an amazing season royals! A special thank you to seniors, Talia Marchewka, Cassidy Serino, Angele Paral, Holland Jablonski and Genesis Rumph, who have all dedicated their time to such a wonderful sport and team. Louisville cannot wait to see what you guys do in the future!
