Fall Ball: the glitter gala

A gathering of crepes and soft serve ended in faded makeup and shedded glitter.
Once people entered the dance, crowds headed to the crepes and custom spray painted hats. There were a couple food trucks on campus, including a crepe truck, which was a large hit with a line forming quickly after the start of the dance. Many struggled to find areas to eat with their large groups in order to sugar up and head to the assorted activities.
The DJ played a mix of old pop songs reminiscent of our early childhood, whilst sporting a newspaper boy cap. Throughout the night, he added requested songs such as George Michael’s “Careless Whisper” (a fan favorite), as well as some Ed Sheeran hits. The dance floor lit by overhung lights as well as a few led lights projected by the DJ, mostly featured the more outgoing attendants who danced the night away.
Shortly after beginning, the DJ led the cupid shuffle which was perfectly executed by everyone on the dance floor. At one point, a dance circle was formed within the crowd where students showed off their moves. After each routine ended, another person was gently pushed to the middle in order to continue the circle. Partway through this rotation, the circle featured duo routines of getting “sturdy” (picture a more aggressive form a vogueing) and swing dancing.
Halfway through the night, Mr. Batch was spotted, resulting in a group of screaming girls running to recruit him. Following a little persuasion, Mr. Batch danced within the circle as One Direction played.
After quite a few songs, the circle dissolved into a couple of crowds. The crowds were jumping off beat to the assorted songs. During this time many people searched eagerly for water, discovering the only refreshments available were from the crepe truck which was soon crowded by thirsty teens begging for water. Once people were able to refresh, a wave of hunger struck as soft serves were in hand and the tables were once again full.
Through it all, the photo booth captured the memories of the night. The more solitary individuals were enjoying other activities amongst themselves. The billiards was a big hit as many people took turns playing against their dates. Whilst the night went on, teachers and staff circled the property chaperoning the fun night.
“I really liked it when I got close to my class, dance circles and the DJ was good. This year Louisville students dominated the dance floor versus last year where the Crespi boys and now graduated seniors did. However, I wish there was [more]food,” said Lily Spissman ’25.
“I honestly loved the outdoor setting. I loved all the lights & how the activities & different things were scattered around. The crepes were probably the best I've ever had in a long time,” stated Kate Ben ’26.
The students had a great time and some even left with pumpkins, courtesy of Mr. Wilson and the wonderful ASB.
