This 2023-2024 winter season has been full of victories for the Louisville basketball team. So far, the team has been killing it with 24 wins and just three losses, including six league wins and not a single league loss, putting them at the top of their division. The team has officially made it to the CIF playoffs and is ready to carry their winning streak right along with them.

They kicked off the season in mid-November with a game against Granada Hills Charter. It was a close game, but the Royals took the win with a score of 52-51, a great start to the season. Their next game was even more impressive, with another Louisville win of 77-53 against Palisades Charter High School.

While the team encountered two losses in the following games, it didn't take long for them to turn the tables and embark on an impressive winning streak of 10 games. One especially notable tournament was played against Maranatha High School on December 28, with an extremely impressive score of 81-28 to the Royals.

Since their last loss at the end of 2023, the team has had nothing but successful games. The girls continue to impress everyone with their record-breaking scores. The commitment and teamwork that each and every teammate puts into the game deserves recognition, and the Louisville sisterhood is so apparent in the team.

Seniors being honored by their friends and teammates at basketball senior night.

Louisville basketball has been on fire these past few years, with their very first CIF win in 2021, and a league victory last year for the first time since 1986. This year is no different as the girls add more and more wins under their belt.

The Louisville basketball Senior Night was held on January 30 in our home gym, and the game left everyone in awe. The Royals beat Notre Dame Academy by a whopping 79-24, with 29 of those points scored by Andrea Hurtado ’24, and another 20 by Taylor Westbrook ’24. So many students, family, friends and faculty came out to support the seniors on their special night, and the four seniors: Westbrook, Hurtado, Miye Kidama and Taylor Sokoll were honored with posters, yummy treats, gift baskets and too many flowers to hold.

One of the most motivating things when playing sports is hearing the cheers from the crowd, so be sure to come out and support your Louisville sisters by cheering on the basketball team from the stands. The next couple games are on _____ and ______ against _____ and ______. See you there!
