Junior purple dragons showing off their class pride!
The Pep Rally ‒ one of the most anticipated events at Louisville ‒ encourages students to show off their class pride. Louisville has made tremendous efforts to unite the student body through different events despite the lingering limitations of the COVID-19 pandemic.
ASB Spirit Chair, Ava Browne ’22, shared about the “spirit” on campus this year:
“I am excited that I, along with ASB, have done a lot of things that have never been done before. For example, the Fall Ball, Louisville has never had their own homecoming. It was so successful, and really established a new tradition. I am also working to do a second spirit week which has never been done before, using feedback of the spirit day ideas the students want, so as leaders in the Louisville community we are incorporating everyone's ideas.”
The winter pep rally occurred on February 3rd and was held on the senior lawn. Each class stood together ‒ the senior blue sharks, the junior purple dragons, the sophomore red dinosaurs and the freshman black swans repped their class colors.
The pep rally lasted for an hour and was filled with excitement, anticipation and enthusiasm. It was led by our very own ASB, specifically Ava Browne ‘22 who guided the Jeopardy game.
Once the pep rally began, exhilaration could be felt throughout the entire senior lawn. To begin the pep rally, Louisville’s winter sports ‒ basketball, water polo, and soccer ‒ were introduced and acknowledged for their hard work and dedication. A highlight from our pep rally was that our basketball championship team was recognized for their first CIF-SS title and win! They received beautiful rings to commemorate their win.
Each class cheered on their athletes as they came up to be honored with their teams. In addition, sophomores and juniors created human tunnels, holding hands together, and cheering on athletes as they ran through.
The Crespi Cheer team also put on a spectacular and special performance for the student body.
For the main activity, ASB set up a table and a large whiteboard which was used for the awaited game ‒ Family Feud! Each class got the opportunity to compete with each other through their class councils, who were asked to go up and represent their class.
A variety of questions were asked such as, “What would you catch your neighbor doing outside in a bathrobe?” The answers were submitted by our very own Louisville staff and faculty, and it was thrilling to see the participants pondering about what the teachers may have answered. ASB Secretary Sarah Stern ’22 kept track of the winning and losing streak of each class on the scoreboard for all to see.
The freshman and sophomores went first, and the sophomores beat them in a tense battle. Afterwards, the seniors and junior class councils ascended, and the senior blue sharks dominated the junior purple dragons. Afterwards, the sharks entered the final round and confidently won against the dinosaurs.
A very special congratulations to the blue sharks, your victory was well deserved!
In addition to the commotion and buzz, the victorious class was able to win a free dress day for their class, which made their victory even sweeter. Seniors: mark your calendar for Friday, April 8th!
Overall, the pep rally was very successful and each class loved showcasing their class spirit.
