Taylor Swift came out with her first re-recording in April of 2021. “Fearless (Taylor’s Version)” sparked newfound excitement among Swifties all over the world. There are several “vault tracks” in each re-recording, which are tracks that Taylor never released from each specific era. Swifties everywhere highly anticipate each rerelease because it always comes with brand-new, never heard-before songs. But which vault tracks are the best? Here are my personal top five favorite songs (from the vault).

Many people say that “All Too Well (10 Minute Version)” is by far the best vault track to exist. I disagree. With its soft vocals from Taylor and Phoebe, plus the delicate guitar strumming, I can’t help but get a little teary eyed when listening to “Nothing New” on the re-released Red album. The lyrics are so relatable and they perfectly describe emotions that I feel on a regular basis. Phoebe Bridgers is also one of my favorite artists of all time, so maybe I’m biased, but this song takes first place far above the others in my opinion.

  2. “All Too Well (10 Minute Version)”

After the release of “All Too Well (10 Minute Version)”, also on Red (Taylor’s Version) album I have not listened to the regular “All Too Well” once. This song has the perfect lyrics to scream and cry to. The lyric, “Just between us, did the love affair maim you too?” still haunts me to this day. The moment it was released, it turned into the greatest breakup song of all time.

This song from the Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) album is one of the best love songs ever written , and it will be played at my wedding 20 years from now, there’s no doubt. It has the sweetest lyrics, and it never fails to put a smile on my face.

Fun fact: the first time I heard the lyric, “If she’s got blue eyes I will surmise that you’ll probably date her,” I screamed so loud that my parents had to do a welfare check on me in my own room. This song on the latest 1989 is rumored to be about Harry Styles, and as a big Harry fan myself, my jaw hit the floor when hearing these scream-worthy lyrics. With its super catchy tune, you can’t help but dance, even if the lyrics make you want to bawl.

I will forever be a fan of angsty Taylor songs. “I Bet You Think About Me” is the most underrated vault track from Red. I love that you can hear the slight country accent in her voice, it's such a throwback to the early days of her career. It reminds me of her songs I listened to when I was little, and don’t even get me started on the cinematic masterpiece that is the music video.

Taylor’s vault tracks have given fans new insight on their favorite albums that they would not have heard if it weren’t for the re-recordings. Whether you’re more into emotional ballads like “All Too Well (10 Minute Version)” or pop anthems like “Suburban Legends,” Taylor Swift has a song that will be the perfect fit for you. The vault tracks allow fans to be transported back into their favorite era, so jump into the vault and discover the magic!
