On January 31, the Louisville Royals varsity soccer team fought a challenging game against Notre Dame High School to conclude their season. This exciting game kept viewers on the edge of their seats the entire time! Additionally, they celebrated Senior Night with family and friends who came out to support the talented seniors in their last soccer season at Louisville.

The game was tied throughout the first half and the majority of the second half, until Notre Dame scored a goal in the last five minutes The Royals put up a good fight against the Knights and our talented goalie Emily Brown ’24, made many tough saves!

We honored seniors Jules Henderson, Emily Salz, Paola Guevara, and Shelby Greene for their last season playing as Royals.

Fellow teammate Rosey Dubois ‘23 expressed her appreciation towards the seniors’ hard work and dedication:

“Thank you for all of your hard work and inspiring us to grow as a team and to do well every game, we will miss you.”

When interviewing the seniors, they reminisced about favorite memories from their senior season. Shelby Greene ’22 and Emily Salz ’22 shared that their favorite memory with their teammates was their first win against Marlborough, a hard-fought, 2-1 victory against the Mustangs. Paola Guevara ’22 said that her favorite memory was the first team dinner and how close the girls have gotten throughout the season.

As the seniors look back on their season they agreed that they will miss their close bonds with their teammates, their supportive coach and the memorable bus rides to games.

The Senior Night ceremony was amazing as seniors and their families were honored for their time and contributions to the team. Beautiful and inspirational speeches were given, stories were shared of the talented group of seniors, and how they created wonderful memories and guided their teammates throughout their time on the soccer team.
