While brownies are an American classic, there are always innovations to be made. With that being said, allow me to present my take on this well-known dessert. Baked into a classic cookie shape, and packed with a deep chocolate flavor, these brownies with a twist are sure to be a crowd favorite at any gathering. This recipe requires minimal equipment and experience, which makes it perfect for any skill level to make in the kitchen. Without further ado, onto the recipe!

Ingredients:

2 cups all-purpose flour

½ cup cocoa powder

1 teaspoon baking soda

A pinch of salt

1 cup soft butter

¾ cup white sugar

¾ cup brown sugar

2 eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup milk chocolate chips

1 cup white chocolate chips

The delicious result of the "brookie" recipe.

Step one:

Preheat your oven to 325° degrees Fahrenheit.

Step two:

In a small bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt.

Step three:

With a wooden spoon or rubber spatula, mix butter and sugars in a separate large bowl until combined and smooth.

Step four:

Add vanilla and eggs to the butter mixture. Make sure to mix each egg one at a time and thoroughly.

Step five:

Place the dry ingredients into the bowl with butter, and mix until combined. After the dough is formed, add in chocolate chips.

Step six:

Roll dough into two-inch balls, and place on a baking sheet with two inches of space between each.

Step seven:

Bake for 9 to12 minutes; try not to overbake them. When done baking, let them cool outside of the oven for five minutes, then enjoy!

After trying this recipe out, it has quickly become one of my favorite desserts to make. The steps are simple and easy to follow, and the end product has always been a big hit with whoever tried them. Would I bake these again? Absolutely! These brownies take very little time and effort, but the end product definitely takes the cake.
