A few weeks back on the week of September 15, 2025, we celebrated Louisville spirit week, which we all know and love. During this week, Royals get to show their school spirit by dressing up for the daily themes. It is a famously fun time, and demonstrates the love of the Louisville sisterhood.
However, something we never expected occurred. On the second day of spirit week, while everyone walked out to lunch, we were all informed to gather on the senior lawn because there was a DJ for everyone to enjoy. Upon arriving at the lawn, we observed a mysterious tent in the middle of the grass and DJ Tye Hollywood from iHeart Radio up the hill. We were all completely caught by surprise.
One minute he played “Baby” by Justin Bieber, and then he announced that Kaido, from Dhar Mann, is here. Everyone looked around in confusion, and next thing you know he is walking up the pavement on the lawn. Screams, cheers, and even cries were seen.
You may know Kaido as Mikey, popular for his roles in the short Dhar Mann YouTube videos. For reference, he was the one that always wanted to skip school. How ironic as he was enjoying a lunch at Louisville like us Royals do everyday!
Kaido channeled his inner talents to sing for us. Popular songs such as “Beautiful Things,” by Benson Boone, and “FEIN!” by Travis Scott could be heard from miles away, and you could hear the crowd’s screams as well everyone’s excitement was building up.
Soon after, we were informed of another special guest, McKenzi Brooke. McKenzi is a popular singer and TikTok influencer. Never in a million years was it expected for her to be on our campus!
After her fun and interactive solo performance of “Austin,” her new original, it was time for another guest: Stefan Benz
An American Idol star, Benz sang for us as well. All of these influencers were gifted with the talent of singing, and we got to experience it first hand!
After the spontaneous and entirely free concert, students got in line to take pictures with the influencers. Royals rushed to the line, eager to take fun selfies to show off to their friends from other schools. Many made TikTok videos about the event as well, some getting more than 50,000 views!
Some of you may be wondering how we got the opportunity to get this fun event to happen! Our new Community Engagement and Events Manager , Aidan Sullivan ’ 14, mentioned how iHeart Radio has a program called “Campus Takeover,” where they reach out to random schools to promote their radio station.
After reaching out to Louisville, a date was made for spirit week, and boom - free concert! We want to give a big thanks to the Louisville administration and their “yes,” making this event possible.
It truly surprised us students and was an amazing way to showcase the spirit of our school!
