The week of February 9th, Louisville had their second semester spirit week, where each day had a different theme to express their class spirit! Throughout the week, the halls were filled with lots of laughter and everyone taking photos of the creative outfits that students came up with.
On Monday, the theme was 2016, where we reminisced our old memories from a decade ago.
“My favorite memory was when everyone collected fidget spinners and made slime with her friends,” Dagny Weber ’26 expressed when asked what her favorite 2016 memory is.
The spirit day was a fun excuse to dress up in old memes and iconic outfits that included chokers, colorful outfits and flower crowns. Overall it was a great day to remember the good times we had in 2016.
On Tuesday the theme was Twilight Tuesday, paying homage to the famous “Twilight” books/movies. The weather was gloomy which aligned perfectly with the town Forks, Washington where the story is set. Not only did the students have fun with this theme, but the teachers did too. There were many people dressed with “Twilight” shirts and some people even got really creative with it and dressed up as characters like Bella Swan and Edward Cullen. At lunch on the senior lawn, many of the students were reenacting scenes from the movie. It was a fun day to be creative and have fun with outfits ranging from vampires to early 2000’s style.
On Wednesday it was Multi-Cultural day, which was a day for everyone to celebrate their cultures and share their backgrounds. Everyone around campus showed off their cultures by wearing shirts or dressing in traditional outfits. To continue the day, at lunch, we had our annual Culture Fair. Tables were set up all around Saint Louis Hall introducing people to the food from their diverse cultures. We were able to learn more by asking questions about the different cultures we have around campus.
On Thursday the theme was Decades Day, where every grade was assigned as their own decades to dress up as. Freshman got groovy with their ’70s outfits by wearing bell-bottoms and patterned fabrics like they were ready for a disco party. Sophomores added a pop of color to express the ’80s, but they admittedly did not go as all out on this day as they did on the others. The juniors were ready to rock and roll with the ’90 theme! They dressed in flannel shirts and streetwear with big hoop earrings. Lastly, the seniors brought back to the early 2000’s with the nostalgic Y2K trends. These outfits featured tracksuits (Juicy Couture), low rise jeans and baby tees.
Lastly on Friday, it was Class Color Day! This was a great way to end the week with each grade wearing their class colors and attending the pep rally. As we walked into Saint Louis Hall, Taiko performed to get everyone excited. Everyone came in with high energy and excited to play the games.
The pep rally began with a fun interactive game where everyone put their class colored sticky note on the back of their phones, changing the color of their flash light to blue, pink, etc. ASB then hit the lights and in the darkness we had to group up with our grade by using those lights.
Before the other games started, we honored our spring sports and other extracurriculars Louisville has to offer—including Spring musical, Robotics and Taiko.
Then we got into the games which included guessing the movie by the emojis and the bounce house obstacle course, which students had to race through to see who could get to the other side the fastest. This contained a lot of yelling, laughter, and competition between grades.
Before we attended lunch, we watched a very cute video of teachers and staff appreciating the students and speaking about their pride for us and how much they care about us.
After the pep rally, the Dads Club BBQ cooked up delicious burgers and fries! All grade levels then came together and sat on the senior lawn to enjoy the burgers.
Overall, spirit week was successful and each student had a great time dressing up and being themselves. It was a great way to let loose in a time of second semester stress!
