On Tuesday September 23, our varsity Louisville volleyball team won against Immaculate Heart 3-0. Sets one and two were on the closer side yet still successful, scoring 26-24 and 25-22, with their last dominating 12-25.
Our team made us proud, especially the ones that will be playing their last season this year. Senior Halle Jimenez ’26 was a standout for her skillful serves and powerful digs, receiving many cheers from the lively student section, as well as Yitsa Prevas ’26 and Maggie Kearin '26 for their incredible saves near and far from the net. Julina Frabotta ’26, Ferlynn Alvarenga ’26 and Natalie Chorbajian ’26 were applauded for their insanely powerful kills, building up points for the Royals. Setter Yana Lanis ’26 could be seen setting up balls for the kills that wowed the crowd.
Seated on the stage in St. Louis Hall, students of all grades sat and cheered wildly. Frosh and JV were seated in front, giving unconditional support for their sisters on Varsity.
Roars of support could be heard coming from the student section, predominantly made up of extra supportive seniors - friends of the outstanding team members.
After the game concluded, Coach Fransico “Frankie” Valdez facilitated the traditional tear-jerking Senior Speeches, where underclassmen had a chance to say thoughtful words about the teammates they have grown to know, love and look up to.
Varsity Volleyball manager, Mylee Lott ’26, was fiercely involved in the night, wearing the Louis the Lion mascot costume periodically as the night went on and encouraging the crowd to chant for the team. Mylee held up a variety of different posters throughout the night, using new creative ways to inspire the crowd to make some noise for their varsity volleyball team!
“I’ve watched them since they were all juniors and have seen them grow. Seeing them improve has been amazing, amazing stuff. Top tier pride for the Louisville volleyball community!” says Mylee ’26, reflecting on her excitement after the victorious win.
Best of luck to our wonderful Seniors for the rest of their final season, all of our school-wide appreciation was poured out to you that Tuesday night and there is no doubt more celebration to come!
