As soon as holiday tunes hit the radio, stores and coffee shops roll out their seasonal treats, Christmas trees cram into the living room, and twinkling lights adorn everything; the air itself really does begin to feel jolly. For some, the anxiety-causing gifting frenzy that accompanies this time of year can tamper with seasonal joy. The memories made in these happy holiday times, however, can ease the stress of the season when accompanied by a smell that truly encompasses the merriment.
In order to help those looking for gift ideas, try finding a scent that will cheer up your loved ones through its festiveness. Whether you find a candle, perfume or something else that is special with these scents, your friends and family will thank you for the effort you put in to find them a unique smell. Below is a list of different holiday personalities people can have and the scents that compliment them best.
A candle with scents of cranberry and cinnamon.
We all have that one friend who goes all out during the holiday gift shopping rush. They find the perfect presents for Secret Santas, White Elephants and more, while always getting the right gift for each person. Show this person a little love by giving them a scent that appreciates their overboard effort. The cheerful smell of cranberries will bring them back to the post-Thanksgiving madness of Black Friday that only they would enjoy, while also giving them a kick of happiness that gift exchanges are near.
A festive and fresh peppermint candle.
A friend like this is truly dreaming of a white Christmas and wants to enjoy a crisp winter in any way they can, even with Southern California weather. They’ll want to make it to every ice skating rink and marvel at fake snow they find. Hopefully this friend will spend their winter vacation in the snowy mountains, but if they’re stuck on the beach, try finding them a cedarwood or peppermint scent. These scents, either combined or on their own, bring the chill of winter with peppermint, and the crispness of a forest after a fresh snowfall with notes of cedarwood.
In a friend group, there is always that one friend who brings a little spice to the function. They’re sugar and spice and everything nice, deserving of an equally punchy aroma. Their vibrant personality is usually accompanied by a wicked winter fashion sense. They have the perfect gloves and hat, the cutest scarf and boots, plus the most whimsical coat for every December outing. For a friend like this, consider a cinnamon and clove spice blend. Cinnamon is always a popular smell and will bring the spice during the chilly winter months. Cloves balance out the fragrance and can bring a sweet woodsy crispness to their frosty wardrobe.
Sweet treats that ooze chocolate and marshmallow aromas.
From Thanksgiving to New Year's Eve, the holiday season is filled with sweet treats. Pies, cakes, cookies, candy canes, hot cocoa and more cover tables and fill stomachs. One friend may come to mind who especially enjoys the desserts they indulge in during these months. Satisfy their appetite with the delectable smells of marshmallow and chocolate to remind them of the blissful food coma they enter every December.
Once the thermostat drops below 60 degrees, this person loves any excuse to light the fireplace and snuggle under a blanket. Even miles away from snowfalls, they enjoy wearing layers upon layers of their warmest and biggest coats. In order to bring them the cozy sense of being wrapped up inside a coat or blanket, find them a scent that contains both gourmand and cashmere. Gourmand will surround them with the smells of delectable sweet and savory fresh baked goods that encompass the homey feeling of a warm house. The scent of cashmere brings fresh and clean coziness, as well as the warmth associated with a good chunky sweater or coat.
