Coachella 2024: the comeback tour

What do Lana Del Rey, Tyler the Creator and Doja Cat all have in common? They are all headlining Coachella this year, AKA the desert’s most popular music festival that takes place the weekends of April 12 and 19 this year.

One of the biggest headlines to come out of the Coachella lineup is the reunion of 1990s and 2000s rock band, No Doubt. The band features Gwen Stefani as its lead singer, guitarist Tom Dumont, Tony Kanal who plays the bass guitar and Adrian Young on the drums. This will be the bands first time performing together since they took a hiatus in 2015 after releasing their album “Push and Shove” in September of 2012.

Another shocking reappearance that will be happening at Coachella is by 90s ska punk band, Sublime. Sublime was started in 1988 by Bradley Nowell, Eric Wilson and Bud Gaugh but broke up in 1996 after Nowell’s unfortunate passing, who was the lead singer and guitarist. Wilson and Gaugh recreated the band as Sublime with Rome in 2009, which had Rome Ramirez as their new lead singer and guitarist. In December of last year, the band announced that they would revert back to their original name of Sublime, and following Ramirez’s departure, Jakob Nowell, Bradley’s son, would take the role previously occupied by his father.

BLACKPINK became the first K-Pop group to be a main headliner for Coachella after they first performed in 2019; now four K-Pop groups are listed on the lineup for Coachella this April. ATEEZ, The Rose and LE SSERAFIM will all be taking the stage on different dates during the weekend, so no need to worry about having to rush from one stage to another for all of your favorite k-pop groups. In addition to these groups, 88rising, who focuses on promoting Asian artists, will be having some of their up-and-coming artists at the festival.

Now for the good part: the headliners; Lana Del Rey, Tyler the Creator and Doja Cat. Del Rey just finished a North American tour and a couple shifts at Waffle House after releasing her ninth album “Did you know that there's a tunnel under Ocean blvd.”

Tyler the Creator just hosted his own festival “Camp Flog Gnaw” for its first time after a Covid related hiatus and its initial start in 2012.

Doja Cat began her Scarlet Tour on Halloween of last year, and will continue on to Europe this summer.

Now even if you weren't able to get tickets when they went on sale or don’t have the money, there is a way to watch all the performances live for free. Every year Coachella streams most of the performances on their youtube @coachella.
