Fashion trends of 2024

2023 was a year of fashion trends popping up left and right. From bows on everything, to Adidas Sambas everywhere, everyone was hopping on the trend wagon and looking fabulous while doing it. With the new year, comes new fashion trends, so in this article I will be giving my predictions for the fashion trends of 2024:
- Animal print
You might be thinking, hasn’t animal print clothing always been a fashion trend? And well yes, cheetah print tops and leopard print bags are certainly nothing new, I think this year we will be seeing a lot more of them. In the past few weeks, I’ve noticed more and more animal print pieces popping up on my social media, and I support it. While I personally don’t own any animal print clothing, I think 2024 might be the year my closet sees its first pop of leopard print.
2. Lots of red
Now this one is definitely a personal favorite of mine because I have fully jumped on the train of this trend. Pops of red in outfits has been my favorite emerging trend and I myself love throwing on my red sweater, red ballet flats, red socks, red purse or red scarf to make any outfit all the more bold. I think red is such a flattering color on everyone and, this year, people are going to incorporate it into their everyday wardrobe.
3. Short nails
While I am a big supporter of acrylics and gel x, I have seen more and more people abandoning the long-nail look for the more natural, short nails. I have been a long nail girl for years now, and when I tell you my nails have suffered the consequences, I mean it. So, I am in support of this trend for the health of my own nail beds and even made it a new year’s resolution to not get acrylics or gel x to let my alarmingly weak nails recover.
4. Faux fur coats
Faux fur coats have been an on and off fashion staple for decades, and while many people never stopped wearing the classy and chic coats, I think they are going to be everywhere you look this year. As someone moving to the chilly city of New York next autumn, I have a feeling that I will fall victim to this ever-growing fashion statement because there’s no denying that a fur coat is a cozy and cute addition to any closet.
5. Sequins
This trend is not much of a prediction because I would say it was even trending in 2023, but I think it’s here to stay in 2024. A sequin mini skirt with a simple top, or vice versa with a sequin top and simple bottoms, is always a perfect combo for a night out at a concert or Y2K themed party. If you want to light up the room like a disco ball, sequins are definitely the move and will absolutely make you stand out in the best way possible.

6. Mixing jewelry
If you’re tired of trying to decide whether you are a gold or silver jewelry person, you’re in luck because, this year, I think mixing the two metals is going to be a big trend. I won’t lie, I used to be against wearing gold and silver together, but I have seen people combine the two in the cutest and most tasteful ways. Although this trend might be a little more difficult for me to dabble in, I definitely think it can be pulled off.
Whether or not these predictions come true, feel free to use this list for some outfit inspiration!
