With reusable water bottles becoming more popular over the past few years, it should be noted that some have gained more popularity than others. 

In the competition for most popular water bottle, Swell bottles, Hydroflasks and Stanleys all had their time on top. However, the new water bottle that everyone seems to have now is the Owala bottle.   

A majority of Royals have hopped on the Owala trend. 42% of students use an Owala at school or in general, with other runner ups being Hydroflasks and Stanleys. Owala is the clear winner and has stolen the hearts of reusable water bottle owners here in Woodland Hills, and all over the world!

It feels like almost every Louisville student or teacher can be seen with an Owala in hand. The Owala bottle’s unique name actually derives from the koala animal. Owalas are named after koalas because when you drink water from the bottle, the lid pops up and covers your mouth and nose, looking like a koala nose. Cute, right?

Is it the cute color combinations, interesting name, easy accessibility or is simply just another phase in the reusable water bottle world that has Owala winning the race for 2024 and 2025? 

These water bottles, when in the ‘FreeSip’ form, have a special feature that allows drinkers the choice to sip from the straw, or chug through the opening. Also incorporated in the water bottle lid design, is the double lock system, making spills more avoidable. With many models to choose from, it seems that there is an Owala for everybody. 

Stores like Target, Urban Outfitters, Walmart and sporting goods stores have a wide selection of Owalas to choose from. With various models, and hundreds of color ways, it is easy to find the Owala for you. 

Lid switching has become a fun way for people who don't enjoy the original color combinations of their water bottle, but have an eye for a perfect match; Customizing your dream Owala has never been so easy! 

Now when you walk into stores you may see a brown Owala with a bright blue and orange lid. Not an ideal combination, but hey, someone wanted their money’s worth.
