You know when it's the start of a new season and you want to watch a movie, but you're not sure what will put you in the best mood for that season? Almost every movie has a season that it gives off through the setting and cinematography, but since some movies are on the cusp of two seasons, you never know when it's the right time to watch them. Here's a list of the best movies and shows to watch during each season:
Winter isn’t just about the holidays, but it is also the environment; the cold air and the absence of schoolwork allows you to sit down with a nice cup of hot cocoa or a glass of eggnog and eat some pillsbury sugar cookies. Two great films to watch in the winter are “Anastasia” (1997) and “Secret of the Wings” (2012) both of which are streaming on Disney+.
“Anastasia” is about the search for a lost princess in exchange for a reward, leading to two con men trying to pass off an orphan as Anastasia, not knowing that it's the real her. It is set in the beautiful landscape of the Russian winter, and the snow fall in the background adds to the winter feeling.
“Secret of the Wings” is a continuation of the story of Tinkerbell where she, a warm fairy, crosses over to Winter Woods and meets one of the winter fairies, Periwinkle, and they plot to unite the warm and winter fairies.
Spring feels like frolliking in a field and being transported to the Romantics era with Jane Austen and Louisa May Alcott. Some of the best movies for spring are “Little Women” and “Emma.”
“Little Women” (2019) is streaming on Starz and follows the lives of a group of sisters during the civil war as they blossom like flowers into adulthood.
“Emma” (1996) is a movie where the main character, Emma, is too concerned with the love affairs of others, and almost misses her own chance at happily-ever-after. It is streaming on Pluto Tv and it's the perfect movie for the season of love.

Summer feels like you have all the time in the world. It's a great time to binge your favorite movie series from start to finish over the two months of freedom. Two amazing film series to watch over the summer are the “Step Up” movies and the Marvel Cinematic Universe movies.
The “Step Up” film series has six different movies that are all unified by the connection between dancers, no matter where they are. Most of the movies are available for rent on Amazon; the fourth film is available on Netflix and the fifth is on Tubi.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe features the stories of various superheroes based on the comics created by Stan Lee, spanning across 55 movies and TVshows all streaming on Disney+.
Fall is not only a season, but also a feeling. From pumpkin flavored everything to the crushing leaves and watching spooky movies. Two great fall movies are “Fantastic Mr. Fox” and “Clue.”
In “Fantastic Mr. Fox,” after 12 years of civility, Mr. Fox returns to his life of thievery one last time against the farmers in his area, and the film is available on Disney+. Its array of orange and brown colors, and the Thanksgiving style feast at the end help boost the fall mood.
“Clue” is based on the murder mystery board game and has many twists and turns before its final reveal, making it the perfect not-so-scary movie for Halloween that is streaming on Amazon Prime.
Even though every movie has its own time of year, there are no rules to watching movies. If you want to watch your favorite sad movie for the fall in the spring, then go ahead. Movies are made for their audience’s enjoyment, no matter when.
