Lyrics that sing to my heart

Lyrics changed the meaning of music. We can sing in the shower, relate to our favorite artists and see life from different perspectives. I believe the best lyrics are the ones that you can see yourself in. I have many opinions on music (even though I’m not an expert), so here is my list of my favorite lyrics:
A visual representation of the meaning of the lyrics in "Chiquitita" by ABBA.
ABBA is a band that gave us hit after hit and wrote the most heartwarming lyrics, specifically in,“Chiquitita.”
My favorite lyric is, “Chiquitita, you and I cry, but the sun is still in the sky and is shining above you.”
This whole song follows the singer explaining that they want someone they love to heal from their past and move on from their sorrow. I think the beauty of this specific lyric is the mention of the sun still being in the sky because it serves as a positive reminder that there will always be light in the world, even if you’re going through a dark time.
The next lyric is from “True Blue” by boygenius, a group that never fails to amaze me with their talented lyricism.
Their lyrics can be devastating, but the line “I can’t hide from you like I hide from myself. I remember who I am when I’m with you,” is truly uplifting.
The boys (as they like to call themselves) wrote this song about each other and the pure love they feel in their friendship. There is nothing as fulfilling as finding a friend that can help you find yourself and remind you who you really are.“True Blue” is a beautiful song that reflects on the importance of having amazing friends that understand you better than you understand yourself sometimes.
Joni Mitchell is one of the best songwriters to ever live and has touched the world through her beautiful folk music. “Both Sides Now” is one of those songs that you understand a little more as you get older.
One of the lyrics that touched my heart is “Well something’s lost but something’s gained in living everyday. I’ve looked at life from both sides now.”
In this song, Mitchell shared her raw emotions of feeling hopeless and like clouds could “only block the sun.” Although I feel I’m too young to fully understand both the good and the bad sides of life, I can still relate to and appreciate the beauty of sharing raw emotions with the world through lyrics.
I couldn’t do an article on my favorite lyrics without including Taylor Swift because her musical strength is her lyrics. It was hard to narrow it down to just one, but I have to say that one of her best songs lyric-wise is “Peace.”
This song has many strong lyrics, but I love “Give you the silence that only comes when two people understand each other.”
Throughout “Peace,” Swift worries about not being able to bring her partner peace because her life is so crazy. With this specific lyric, Swift is saying that, although there won’t be silence from the outside world, she will give her partner peace in a way that only she could. Despite the fact that I’m not constantly being talked about in the media, I can relate to the idea of being able to find peace in someone else even if the outside world seems chaotic.
There are countless amazing lyrics in the world of music, but these are just a few I love from artists I think are the best lyricists ever.
