On Friday, February 6, the Junior class council hosted the annual winter formal at the Hilton Hotel in Woodland Hills. This event is special to Louisville, allowing all the grades to come together at a venue dressed up in their nicest dresses and heels.
Last year’s formal was themed City of Stars at The Odyssey, with windows surrounding the room and views of the stars all around us. This year, the junior council was especially creative with the theme, surrounding the room with blue and green LED lights, making attendees feel as though they were underwater.
As students entered the building, some of the Louisville staff like Dr. Quinn ’94 and Mrs. Hicks ’02 lined up to welcome everyone in and meet the guests. This year, and in recent years, most people wore long dresses, whereas in the past there was a trend where people typically wore shorter dresses. There were many different colors, but blue was the most common color, which fit perfectly with the theme.
The night started with people saying hello to their friends and going to the photobooth to take pictures. As everyone gathered into the ballroom, we sat down to have dinner. Although there was some trouble with people not having tables, it all worked out and everyone enjoyed their dinner that included salad, chicken and mashed potatoes.
Once dinner was done, everyone excitedly crowded the dance floor and sang their hearts out to “Baby” by Justin Bieber and “Party in the USA” by Miley Cyrus, laughing and having a good time. The DJ was most people's favorite part of the formal because he brought the energy and got everyone hyped to dance. Classic dance songs by Pitbull, Kesha, Bruno Mars and more were played. Everyone was jumping up and down and screaming the lyrics to all the popular songs.
Throughout the night many people continued to dance, take photos and eventually head over to the ice cream bar for a cooling dessert. We were able to make our own ice cream sundae and add whatever toppings to it. Then it was time to go back to the dance floor until the night was over.
Overall, the night was filled with everyone looking their best and having a great time with their friends and dates. Lots of memories were created at formal and it was a time we will always remember!
