This year, the Louisville softball team had a year of rebuilding after losing many talented seniors in the past few years. With a team of three seniors, one junior, two sophomores and seven freshmen—the future is bright for this team.
The 2025-2026 Louisville Royals Softball Team
While some may see a younger team with less experience, this team is here to prove them wrong. All of these freshmen are seasoned players who came into their first varsity sport with experience in the game. Being a freshman on a varsity team is not an easy task. It is intimidating playing with or against girls who are older than you. However, these girls were ready to take that on.
Starting with the position of pitcher, Eliza Schroer ’29 and Marissa Manzano ’29 had success in this season due to their confidence in throwing the perfect pitch. Behind the home plate as catcher is Natalie Bartlow ’29 - with a strong arm and even stronger bat, Natalie has had a great first season. Then in the outfield is Izzy Whelan ’29, Zoey Smith ’29, Francie Ellet ’29 and Gia Carranza ’29 who all contribute greatly in games by making sure nothing gets by them.
Andrea Jones ’28 and Bridget Woelflein ’28 bring a strong experience in the game to the infield. Last year, they had a great season as freshmen, so seeing what they brought to their next Louisville season as sophomores was exciting.
While there may only be one junior, Lindsey Stein ’27 is mighty. She plays in the infield and is smart when it comes to the plate. Being the only one in your grade on a team may be intimidating, but Lindsey proves her strength and leadership on and off the field.
Last but not least, Ever Martz ’26, Olivia Ortega ’26 and Leah Olmo ’26 have all been on the team for four years at Louisville. With Olivia in the outfield as well as catching, Leah in both the outfield and infield, and Ever in the infield as well, they bring their long lasting experience to a mostly younger team. Their leadership is inspiring and makes them approachable on the field.
Special shout out to Leah Olmo, who is committed to play softball at William Jewell College—congrats Leah!
All of these seniors are so loved in the softball community and will be missed next year!
Whether you are a softball fan or just want to do something fun, I highly recommend you check out a game this season! The team came in ready to swing for the fences.
