At Crespi High School, the anticipation was high as the school's season-opening home football game took place with the exciting White Out theme.
This specific home game was a special event since it was also Celt Night. Celt Night is an event where students celebrate Crespi Pride and the unity of their school.
During Celt Night, students, parents and supporters all came together in the spirit of teamwork. “Celt Night is just overall an enjoyable night that brings everyone together,” Logan Millenbaugh ’25 stated at the game.
The Crespi football field filled with excitement.
The White Out theme was revealed a day before the game, and both Louisville and Crespi students followed through.
“ I loved the white-out theme because it was an easy theme to follow,” Sasha Senofsky ’27 enthusiastically said.
However, while the color was popular amongst many, there were many students who disagreed with the theme.
“I just don't have any white. I personally don't like themes, but if I had to pick, I would probably want brown. That's a Crespi color and everyone has something brown,” commented Samantha Davis ’27.
The activities included face painting, a bake sale, lots of vendor booths, music, and food and drinks for purchase. Alexa Burr ’25 even commented on how high quality and detailed the face painting was.
Crespi played against Garfield High School and showed great determination and backbone. It was a challenging game for the Celts, and they took a heavy loss to the Bulldogs. Even though the score was 41-0 during half-time and the odds did not swing in their favor, the students, parents and supporters gathered behind their team as the stands were a sea of white.
"I did enjoy the game. I thought there were many activities for the kids, and it was just nice to hang out with friends.” said Laura Balderrama '26 on her experience.
However, it was evident that not everyone had the same level of enjoyment.
“I enjoyed the game, because I was with my friends,” commented Paloma McManus ’27
“It was fine. It would've been more fun if Crespi scored. But I enjoyed taiko!” Isabelle Balderrama '24 also stated.
The "White Out" football game at Crespi High School ended up being a night of mixed emotions. Some loved the fellowship and enthusiasm, while others found it difficult to watch their team struggle against a strong opponent.
Celt Night successfully united the school community, honoring Crespi Pride and leaving everyone who went with lasting memories.
