From backorders and weird sizes to low-quality clothes, many Louisville girls are united on one thing: our frustration over Dennis Uniform.
Starting the school year off on the wrong foot, many freshmen and transfer students were left without essential items due to out-of-stock sizes and products. Frustration over backorders continues to cause distress even several months into the school year, especially on formal dress days.
Until their uniforms arrived, many girls attended the first liturgy, held on August 23, without the complete dress uniform consisting of a blazer, white polo, gray skirt and black penny loafers. Additionally, when items are on backorder, they seemingly take forever to arrive on your porch, sometimes several months after ordering… if ever arriving at all.
“Any time I order from Dennis it does not come for a long time,” said Robyn Bowling ’28. Multiple times, her uniform items have been on backorder, including polo shirts, skirts and sweatshirts.
Oftentimes, core uniform items such as skirts, blazers and polos are out of stock in most sizes, not only on Dennis’s website, but also at their nearest in-person store in Woodland Hills. Specifically, many girls have complained about the unavailability of the blazers. Recently, on the Dennis Uniform website, all but six of the sizes were sold out.
Even if Dennis has your size in stock, and your order comes without delay, chances are it won’t fit. Sometimes, even if you think you ordered the right size, it may not fit how you thought it would.
For example, Louisville held a used uniform sale for transfer students in July to help them get uniform items that were unavailable through Dennis. Though the event was wonderful, it was incredibly difficult to know what your size was compared to the size you would order for a new uniform because sizes can vary greatly depending on the age of secondhand clothing.
But hope is on the horizon.
Amid numerous complaints, Dennis Uniform has recognized its shortcomings and explained that some changes in their business have led to some of the problems encountered by students.
Louisville's uniform by Dennis
“Last year, we embarked on a journey to enhance our production processes… [and] we deeply regret the stress and inconvenience this caused, especially at the start of the new school year,” read an email sent out to families from the company.
Despite Dennis Uniform’s best effort at serving private schools across the country, Louisville will be switching to a new uniform provider starting next school year. Until then, Dennis advises students to keep an open mind and to not hesitate to reach out with questions and concerns.
“Please know that we remain fully committed to serving you and ensuring your satisfaction…we’re here to support you in any way we can,” Dennis assures us.
