On October 31, our Louisville Dads Club, consisting of almost 80 dads, hosted one of their most popular events. Along with providing security and parking assistance for our dances and hosting a welcome breakfast at the beginning of the year, our Dads Club put on a Halloween barbeque for all students and staff to enjoy.

Many of the dads were excited to be back on campus helping out with food service and truly fulfilling the club’s mantra: “Help where you can, when you can.” Together, they worked to serve us with an awesome meal and festive music this Halloween.

“I like helping out [and] being part of a good group of guys that also want to help our daughters enjoy their time at Louisville. It’s a fun time, also a challenge to serve 300+ people. It’s fun to hang out with the guys though. We listen to music and talk food, share stories and brag about our daughters,” stated head of the Dads Club, and senior Bianca’s dad, Mr. Franchino.

At the end of second period, all students dressed in their colorful and creative costumes rushed to get in line for the barbeque conveyor belt. For five dollars, each student could get a burger or cheeseburger fresh off the grill, followed by a stop at the condiments station where you can choose from a variety of juicy tomatoes, fresh lettuce, onions, mayonnaise and of course, mustard and ketchup. The final stop offered a variety of chips, cookies and candy.

Once they got their food, students gathered with their friends around the lawns and hallways to enjoy their burgers and to spend time with their dads, or should I say - the LVHS Royal Roadies. Taking it back a few decades, the Dads Club members rolled in with a group costume of 80s rockers called the Royal Roadies. Our students got to enjoy food and music from these rock stars, with the Dads Club band Los Padres performing live music outside the gym.

“I would say that my favorite part of the Dads Club is having fun conversations on special holidays and events over a well cooked burger!” exclaimed ASB Spirit Chair Lily Rodriguez ’25 when asked about her barbeque experience.

This barbeque was a great way to get students in the spirit of Halloween and, as always, bring the best vibes to campus. Our campus was filled with laughter, good music, and having the barbeque was certainly not a trick, but a treat.
