Many students have noticed that the game hides the time and battery percentage while playing, which may have led to the popularity of it. This could be leading to why the puzzle-solving game is so addicting due to the fact that you do not know how long you're spending on it. It could be seconds, minutes, or even hours. The game has been mentioned and used in many internet trends on apps such as TikTok and Instragam. This has led to the popularity to spike within these last few months. As of January 30, 2025 Block Blast has around 67 million downloads. Therefore, around 0.8% of the entire WORLD has Block Blast downloaded on their device. But, will it keep growing or will it decline?
The question we are all wondering is, “does Block Blast make us smarter?” According to the Cleveland Clinic, along with other problem-solving games, it causes you to exercise your temporal lobe, the part of your brain that is used for problem solving, managing emotions, memories and processing information. The way to exercise and improve your temporal lobe is to engage your brain in puzzles and other activities that challenge it. By playing Block Blast, a puzzle-solving game that becomes more difficult as the score excels, you could strengthen the temporal lobe.
Around 53.3% of a part of the Louisville community stated they feel Block Blast has made them feel smarter and feel as if they can think quicker, yet 36.4% said it does not, and the other 10.4% is unsure and simply enjoys the game. So, it is safe to say that many feel as if Block Blast is a benefit to their lives and to the Louisville community as a whole.
