At Louisville, we pride ourselves on our outstanding teachers and breathtaking campus. So, why not combine the two and uncover the favorite spots where Louisville teachers unwind and recharge?
There are many gorgeous and relaxing locations on campus that are beloved by not only our teachers, but also the students. The top contenders for overall favorite spots are the following: the senior lawn, the top of the steps of St. Louis Hall, the top of the crosswalk’s stairs by the tech office and the chapel.
Mrs. Marconet, who has been a part of the Louisville faculty since 1994, shared her favorite: “My favorite spot on campus is the senior lawn, especially when the tree near the faculty workroom is in full pink bloom in the spring.”
Mrs. Marconet knows the campus like the back of her hand. Her favorite part of Louisville is the sense of community, along with her fellow faculty members who she considers friends. Marconet stated if she could add one thing to the already amazing campus, she would add a performing arts center.
Mr. Mac, who joined Louisville three years ago, is drawn to a different view: “I think my favorite spot on campus is the top of the steps of St Louis Hall. You get an amazing view of the whole campus and get to see it in its entirety. From the early morning when everything is quiet and peaceful, to midday when campus is buzzing with life and energy.”
Similarly to Mrs. Marconet, Mr. Mac’s favorite thing about Louisville is “without a doubt the community. There are so many things to be involved with on campus and it's really inspiring to see students performing in the environments where they are most passionate. Staff and faculty are always so supportive and welcoming. Everybody seems to want to encourage and cheer for everybody else!”
Mr. Mac is a big part of the Louisville community and shows up to as many events as possible, not just because his students ask him to, but because he loves to support and cheer them on! When asked what one thing he would add to the campus if possible, he said, “it would be a massive sports complex. I have no idea where it would go, but I would love the convenience of having all of our home games for every sport right here on campus.”
Ms. Coffey, a faculty member since 2013, prefers a more tranquil spot: “I like the little chapel as it is peaceful there and allows me to get away from it all.”
If it is not already prominent enough that Louisville has an incredible sense of community like no other school, Mrs. Coffey says that her favorite thing about Louisville is “the very strong sense of community here.”
Mrs. Coffey continued, stating that her second favorite spot on campus is “the Freshman lawn [because] it's close to me when I need to spend some time outside.”
Overall, the Louisville campus is loved by all, but especially our teachers, who have so much appreciation for it. They bring so much to Louisville and this school would not be the same without their constant kindness and encouragement!
