Free kisses, free cuddles and eternal love. What more could you ask for? Clearly, puppies are the best valentines anyone could ask for. So why not pamper your pet this Valentine’s Day with these easy and fun activities for you to enjoy with your precious paw-tner.
1. Watch a dog-themed movie
Grab some pup-corn and a cozy blanket, snuggle up with your pup and turn on the TV! Some movies to watch include “Marley & Me,” “A Dog’s Purpose,” “Lassie Come Home” and “The Secret Life of Pets.” Or, if you’re in the mood for a cute doggy romance, watch the Disney classic “Lady and the Tramp.”
2. Make a batch of Valentines-themed dog treats
All you need for these frozen bites is peanut butter and plain Greek yogurt, both of which are healthy foods for pups. You’ll also need a heart-shaped ice tray. Simply fill the ice tray half way with peanut butter, then fill it the rest of the way with yogurt. Put it in the freezer for a few hours, then gently remove them from the ice tray and enjoy!
3. Throw a puppy party with all your dog’s best friends
Why celebrate with one pup when you could celebrate with ten? Invite over other adorable dogs to join the festivities. Make some dog treats, set up a photo booth and play some fun games for pups and people. As party favors, give out gift bags full of Valentines-themed treats, toys or even doggy bow ties.
4. Have a photo shoot with fun props
Get ready, because the puparazzi are coming! If your dog will let you, dress him up in an adorable Valentine’s Day outfit. For beautiful girl dogs, give her a festive bandana or collar and maybe even a tutu. For dapper boy doggies, have him pose with a valentine’s collar and a pink or red bow tie. Consider using other props on the side, like signs displaying cute valentine’s sentiments or backdrops filled with hearts and kisses.
5. Give your dog a special toy
A simple new toy can brighten your dog’s whole day. Depending on how your dog prefers to play, you can give him a chew toy, a bone, a ball or any other type of toy you can find! Put it in a valentines-themed gift bag so it will be a surprise for your little valentine. Spend time playing with your pup and his toy, and soon enough it will be a new favorite!
Among all the Valentine’s festivities, be sure to take time for rest and relaxation as well. One of the best things you can do for your pet is to simply spend some quality time with them. Surely your pup will chews you to be their valentine!
