Everyone has an opinion and those opinions can be pretty strong. Whether it’s about the best lawn on campus, if pineapple belongs on pizza or how they feel about school lunches… students at Louisville have a lot to say. So I went around and asked a few people for their hottest takes and here’s what they had to say!
Kate Ben ’26 shared that her favorite spot on campus is “the sophomore lawn” because to her it “is definitely the best. I love the trees and the vibe over there. It’s super chill, and it just has a nice environment. Plus, it’s the perfect place to rest in between classes.”
However, Rylie Barbera ’25 is loyal to the senior lawn: “The senior lawn is definitely the best. It’s bigger, prettier and has no mosquitoes. You can actually enjoy your time outside without getting attacked by bugs.”
But, honestly, we all know the actual best lawn is the freshman lawn. It’s perfectly located near all your freshman year classes, there are plenty of seats and let’s face it, it’s the most visually appealing.
Of course, lawn talk isn’t the only thing these students are talking about. Food opinions are just as passionate and just as controversial. Savannah Daly ’26 had no hesitation when it came to her favorite pizza topping:
“I don’t care what anyone says— pineapple belongs on pizza. It has the perfect sweet and salty combo. There’s no reason to hate on it,.” said Daly ’26.
Meanwhile, Katie Thomas ’26 came to the defense of the school lunches.:
“People love to complain about cafeteria food, but the pasta days and tenders are actually really good. I’d take it over packing my lunch any day,” said Thomas ’26.
And then there are the little things that spark surprisingly big opinions. Thuyan Tran ’25 had a strong stance on dress code,:
Non-uniform “zip ups should count as uniform. They’re comfy, they look nice and honestly, I don’t see how a zip-up makes that much of a difference,” said Tran ’25
It’s clear that Louisville students don’t hesitate to share their opinions. Agree or disagree, hot takes like these are what keeps the lunch table debates going round! So next time you’re passionately defending something, just know you’re probably not alone.
