The volleyball senior night was one of their best as the team had an impressive sweep against the Immaculate Heart Pandas. The Royals played a competitive match, securing a 3-0 victory. The players all brought extra energy from a full house and the loud voices of the audiences.

Tensions were high for the other team as the crowd was roaring with excitement as the Royals defeated Immaculate Heart. Our girls did amazing and qualified for the first round of CIF.

The senior night then went on to celebrate the class of 2025: Isabella Galan, Dawson Wheeler, Isabelle Matthews, Zoe Philipsen, Sofia Archibeck, Ariana Rico and Emely De Grano as it was their final home game of the season as Royals.

The varsity team received extra love and support from the teachers, staff and students that went to watch the game. Everyone was cheering loudly, especially for the seniors.

In the end, the girls rallied together to express their love for the graduating seniors. After all of the cheering, the mood shifted as the senior night ceremony began. The junior, sophomore and freshman players shared heartwarming stories and talked about their favorite moments with their beloved Royal sisters. All of the support and encouragement filled the gym with love and warmth. The ceremony had laughter, tears, and grateful smiles.

“It was the best we’ve ever played. We give credit to the audience and Taiko. There was really good energy on the court. Very few mistakes,” Dawson Wheeler ’25 said when she was asked about senior night.“We had a sleepover in the gym with the whole varsity team and we watched a movie and all brought air mattresses to sleep on. We also did a lot of karaoke. In the morning, we had our 6 am practice,” Zoe Philipsen ’25 responded when asked about her favorite part of the season.

“The biggest motivations were the seniors because I wanted to run up to them and say we won. A lot of teachers and friends showed up and encouraged me to do better,” said varsity player Halle Jimenez ’26.

A special shoutout goes out to Coach Frankie, who has led the team to victory numerous times and has greatly helped improve the team. He has shaped them into the players and women they are today.

Through experiences like these, the Louisville reputation of community, sisterhood, and team bonding are formed.
